Britain and the British psyche are at the core of London based photographer Luke Stephenson’s work (b.1983). Often humorous in their outlook, his photographs epitomise the eccentricity of Britain. Whether animate or inanimate objects, Stephenson creates affectionate portraits of his subjects and documents worlds often hidden from the mainstream. Stephenson studied at the Blackpool and Fylde College. His work has been exhibited widely including shows at IMA gallery; (Japan); Belfast Exposed (Northern Ireland) and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, (Australia). Stephenson was nominated for Foam Talents in 2010 and was a winner of the Jerwood Photography Awards in 2005. His work is held in the collection of Fondation d’entreprise Hermès (France).
