British photographer Matthew Murray (1968) is particularly interested in shooting subjects that have a strong narrative, and which help tell a story. He has a number of years’ experience shooting campaigns for various advertising agencies, features for editorials and exhibiting personal photography projects. During this time he has developed a no-nonsense style of work that has been described as ’raw’, ‘truthful’ and ‘humorous’. His commercial work is paralleled by an ongoing flow of personal projects collected and developed from everyday visual experiences and extensive travels. A number of these personal projects have been published in journals such as: i-D Magazine, Dazed and Confused, The Observer, and PDN New York.
Murray’s work is included in a number of museum and private collections. He has exhibited internationally, including the UK, China, France and The Netherlands. Murray’s first solo publication, SKA, which portrays Ska culture is published by Schilt Publishing and distributed by Thames and Hudson. Gallery Vassie has sole representation of Matthew Murray's work & have enjoyed a ten-year relationship with the artist.
