Mia Boysen (b. 1985, South Africa)was enrolled at the Wits School of the Arts from 2005 to 2008. In 2013 she finished her post-graduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. In April 2016 she had her latest gallery solo show at mirko mayer gallery / m-projects. The works were created in Namibia, in conjunction with project funding by the Kunststiftung NRW. She exhibited at the institutaions KIT-Kunst im Tunnel, Düsseldorf and Bundeskunsthalle Bonn. The history of Namibia and the diamond rush served as a starting point for Mia Boysen's newest photographic endeavor. Boysen draws co-relations between the meaning and symbolic quality of the diamond and that of an aspiring young Namibia.
